Tyson and Cherry didn't set out to open a taco joint. They set out to start over — and Austin is better for it.
Life in Monterrey
Before Austin, there was Cafe XBox — a Mediterranean restaurant in Monterrey, Mexico, where Tyson and Cherry baked pizzas in an oven they built themselves and kept 74 pecan trees. When violence overtook the city, they sold everything and left.
How they picked Austin
They pulled out a map. Too cold, ruled out. Too far, ruled out. State income tax, absolutely not. Austin kept clearing every bar — and after running restaurants in Mexico for, as Tyson puts it, "like 1000 years," they had something to say.
Authentically Austin
Tyson didn't come here to import what he already knew — he came to learn. Every taco on the menu is an Austin original, from Val's Classic Migas to Crispy Duck with cucumber and hoisin.
Open all night
Twenty-eight tacos, 24 hours a day, on Airport Boulevard. The neighbors noticed first — and then kept coming back.
